This is a self initiated project I worked on with Luuk, a developer I regularly collaborate with. We used data from RescueGroups, which lists dogs available for adoption across the USA and Canada. We wanted to build something that gave the adoption dogs a bit of visibility.
I handled the design and audio. The design idea was a small interactive town where newly available dogs show up as characters, playful enough to draw people in, but still easy to navigate. Luuk took care of the development and pulled in the live data from RescueGroups so each dog shown is actually up for adoption.
The end result is a little virtual town where you can click on any dog to find out more about them. The newest arrivals get the most prominent spots. We also hid a small Easter egg in there for people to find. It's a fun project, and hopefully a useful one for the dogs too.
